At the age of 3, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a neurological condition that affects muscle tone, movement and coordination.  He was referred to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, LA. Mitte was treated by the medical experts and physical therapy specialists at Shriners Hospitals for Children for most of his childhood, and as a result, overcame many of the physical and verbal effects of cerebral palsy. Earlier this year, Mitte was named Love to Ambassador™ as part of Shriner’s Love to the rescue® campaign initiative. It is in this same effort that Mitte will be visiting the Charlotte region to raise funds for Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Sponsored in part by Edwin’s Hair Studio of Statesville and presented by Central Entertainment Group of NYC, Mitte is also planning a visit to Lake Norman High School on Friday, May 23. He will be speaking to the Lake Norman High School drama class and act alongside the high school’s improv group for a special performance, Lake Norman Live. The impromptu show is open to the public starts at 7 p.m. and $10 tickets can be purchased through the school by emailing actorLNHS@gmail.com.

Mitte is best known for his role as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on the AMC series “Breaking Bad”. The show was awarded Best Drama at the 2014 Golden Globes and Best Ensemble at the 2014 SAG Award. After moving to Hollywood in 2006, Mitte began his acting career with several appearances as an extra on “Hannah Montana,” “7th Heaven” and “Weeds”.  In addition to being featured in the 2014 worldwide GAP campaign, Mitte currently appears on ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth,” starring opposite of the series lead.
